I just checked that the KMail packaged in Debian is affected. I just disabled 
this for myself.

I informed debian-kde user mailinglist on how to disable gravatar.com support 
and am considering filing a bug report with Debian. At least if there is no 
further release of KDEPIM 4.14 planned.

I was quite shocked myself. And I am happy to see that you developers have a 
strong attitude regarding protecting privacy and that it was an error.
