well my feeling is that, if we release a Qt5 version soonlish, than the bugs
that got introduced by the trasistion to Qt5 can be found soonish too. And now
i think we have early adaptors, that are not so upset if something is not
working very nice. If we wait till the next akonadi thing is ready, than users
got the qt5 transistion bugs + bugs from the transistion. And on the other
hand there are many parts of kdepim to not depend at akonadi at all - so we
hold back much improvments in thesse parts for a long time. We should not make
the same error while switching to Qt4 and push the release of the new version
further ans further behind. I think a new thing like "akonadi next" needs time
one year, two or three we can't tell when it ready and more or less feature
complete. To have the time to figure out how well "akonadi next" is working,
it is the best not to have the presure, to release a version as soon as
possible, becaue everthing is waiting for this missing bit - I really concern
that we will release "akonadi next" too early and than user hate us again. And
maybe "akonadi next" is super but we made a big regression on the transistion
to qt5 and the users hat "akonadi next" for something complete unreleated
thing...
Regads,
sandro
