Hi folks,
just finished watching the FOSDEM video[1] of the "State of Thunderbird" talk.
Short with an extended Q&A section.
Some interesting points:
- they have a similar problem we have, i.e. only very few people run beta
versions (IIRC the speaker cited 0.5% vs 5% for Firefox)
- they have a hard time within Mozilla because most users are in Europe and
the managment is in the USA
- the next versions are mostly about internal changes
* they are rewriting their MIME parser in JavaScript
* they are rewriting their addressbook, ultimately wanting plugin capability
for different data sources
- they seem to struggle with quite a pile of old code (hence the rewriting)
Cheers,
Kevin
