Not quite. Akonadi is a service for abstracted data access. It provides common 
operations such as create/delete/read/write/copy/move on data objects 
independent of data type or storage backend.

If you are referring to the C++ class representing a contact, then yes.

Additionally some developers are working on the concept of Person, so many 
contacts from different sources can be associated with the same person.
