Some digging allowed me to find the two following reasons that may make Exchange choke
(Brad, if you have some experience with Exchange, could you confirm?):
- apparently there's no support for RDATE properties in DAYLIGHT as appears in the
iCal data here (lines 19-30 of the iCal data for example);
- the same applies to STANDARD properties (lines 51-61 of the iCal data for example);

The fix would be in this case in KCalCore, and would require to create RRULE entries
for DAYLIGHT and STANDARD that aggregate all the RDATE. I'm not familiar enough with
KCalCore for now to propose a quick fix, so if anyone that knows how this can be
addressed steps in I'll gladly accept :)
