I'd also like to address the confusion between SSL and TLS. The labels in the 
UI are just wrong currently.
TLS is the successor of SSL. Basically SSL is not used anymore, only TLS.

What the GUI options mean is something completely different. TLS means "Use 
the STARTTLS command to begin TLS encryption after the connection was 
initiated", while SSL means "Use TLS right from the beginning".

Therefore I think the SSL/TLS GUI buttons should be renamed to reflect 
reality, I'm just not sure to what.
