Ok, none of these setups will work, there must be a central server which
speaks SyncML and which can be used to synchronise each device - ie. the
N900 or my PC with KDE PIM / Akonadi / Kontact - against.

SyncEvolution is needed on the N900 as this device implements SyncML but
only can use it via USB and bluetooth, and there does not seem to be any
software able to sync Akonadi via USB and/or bluetooth using SyncML.

Mh, that's somehow more complicated than I had hoped for - syncing my
Palm using kpilot did not require any additional infrastructure ;) - but
I think at least I got it now...

Does anyone think it would be possible and usuable to install a local
egroupware server on my PC, configure KDE PIM to access egroupware using
XMLRPC as it's main / default ressources and sync my Palm and possibly
the N900 with my local egroupware server using SyncML?

As soon as SyncEvolutions Akonadi backend will be ready, I would be able
to use it to offline-sync Akonadi with this egroupware server as well
and possibly move the server to some remote host which would
additionally provide me with a Web interface to my PIM data...

Mhh...

PS: Is there any simpler and more lightweight SyncML server out there
which can also be coupled with Akonadi and/or the KDE PIM suite
applications directly using eg. CalDAV / GroupDAV or other means? This
server would not need to offer any features besides being able to
somehow sync "SyncML via HTTP" clients and KDE PIM and would preferrably
run maintenance-free.
