No. I'd be very happy to have you pick it up.

Nope. Just plunge in. Akonadi shouldn't have any affect.

The very hard part is the calendar decorations in the monthview.
I played with putting the Jewish calendar and holidays on the monthview
using calendar decorations and it was terribly ugly. Maybe you'll have
better luck. I even have some code laying around I can send you.

There are some comments in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=171312
you should read. Basically, I think we need to deal separately with the idea of
a second calendar system superimposed over the gregorian calendar.

Also, showing the Jewish holidays should be possible without having to display
the entire Jewish calendar.

Bottom line: I really want a general solution to 2 problems:
1) display multiple calendar systems at one time (in monthview)
2) displaying religious holidays, especially those that go by a
non-gregorian based calendar system

Ideally the computation of 2) should go into the KHolidays library in kdepimlibs.

Well.. anyway these are some of my random babbling thoughts and the
reason not much work has been done on the Jewish Calendar stuff for a long time.
