As far as I know there are Ruby bindings for Akonadi-KDE, however it is 
currently quite hard to get any documentation on that.

It seems we are currently in the stupid situation that those who know the 
bindings do not know Akonadi well enough and vice versa :(

Python seems to have API docs for Akonadi as of 4.1. available here [1], not 
sure if it contains any example code though.
