Correct. Personally, I want to understand if I can:

* keep everything I have in the background, as far as email sorting and
  archiving is concerned

* but access it through an interface which has better search
  functions, integration with Nepomuk, advanced calendaring/contact
  list management...

and it looks the answer is yes. Then I'd also like to write an
article, that's why I also asked some more generic questions which
would be irrelevant or not interesting for me personally.
