Thanks Frank.
About the user ID's - yes you are right and we know this, however having
the burden of "another" service signup is something we want to avoid
even in the price of multiple machines use case of the *minority* of the
users.
In the future we plan to enable API for the Partner's users to Attach
(alias) their specific partner ID to a single outbrain ID and get their
all "accounts" ratings united.
The security issue is a real matter that really demand farther
implementation of the widget on your side.
However, usually this security issue regards running applications from
external (from the web) executable code (like Javascript).
One thing I think you can do, and was done by one of our partners, was
to host the Javascript locally along with the installation. This will
probably save a lot of the implementation and solve the security issue.
One downside it has is our ability to maintain the code and add features
on the fly.
About the availability to implement...
That's your call, we are here to assist if you have questions.
Ori

That ID is used to identify the user on your side, so the user might
want to
use the same ID on multiple machines, right (to receive personal
suggestions
on all machines)? Then it should be configurable by the user I guess,
with
the generated id as default?

JavaScript is currently disabled in the preview pane, for security
reasons (as
requested by the KDE security team). But this could probably also be
done via
an API call sent from some standard widget?

Thanks for your input!
Just to make it clear, I don't see anyone in our team implementing this
too
soon. Not because I wouldn't like it, but because feature development in
Akregator is basically only me, with nearly no time for the project and
a
bunch of higher priority-items on the TODO list.
I accept patches though ;) (preferably with a generic rating interface
and a
separate Outbrain implementation)
Best Regards,
Frank
