openSUSE (my choice/work) and other distros have snapshot packages available.  
I recommend you use those for qt, kdelibs and kdepimlibs, or compile 
elsewhere, compiling on a machine that slow might take a week.

KDE's mailserver was broken, but it's fixed now.
