I think that would be a really great project!

The only problem that I currently see is that kdepim is right in a transition 
(like it has been for about two years not) from the kde 3.5 resources 
approach to akonadi in KDE 4. While KDE 4 does not yet have all features 
(e.g. no working korganizer ;-) ) that would be needed, I'm not sure how good 
an idea it is to work on kde 3.5 code when akonadi changes are pending...

Does anyone of the other pim guys have a clear vision how we should proceed 
with these issues? 

For KDE4 we definitely want an easy framework to allow implementation of such 
groupware integration (calendar/tasks/journals, addressbook, mail access, 
notes), but we're still missing the proper API design (or am I missing 
something here?).
