I integrated KMime into K0rn and I don't think it worths the effort. I did
that fairly fast (therefore badly) just to see what would get out of it and
it requires too many modifications in the source code (for instance, KMime
has several non-const methods which caused issues with the current schema of
K0rn). Then, there's also the arrival of KDE4 with small "applets" that will
replace (from what has been said) most of K0rn's functionnality, therefore I
think that changing to libkmime is useless.

I think so too, so it's safe enough to apply the modifications indeed.
