[Kde-pim] Specifying time for new event using calendar

It used to be that I could specify the time and date for a new event by
sweeping out the time in the calendar on the appropriate date. Then, when I
hit ctrl-N, the New Event panel would have the date and time already
correctly entered. Since upgrading to Kubuntu 6.10 (and KDE 3.5.5 with
Korganizer 3.5.5), I find that ctrl-N always opens New Event on the current
date with a time and duration that I can set in preferences. Is there a way
to restore the original functionality?
