I would think you'd be better off with the versions of kalyptus and smoke in 
the KDE cvs in the kdebindings module. They should be compatible with PerlQt, 
and will work with all versions of KDE from 3.1.x to 3.4.x. I maintain them 
there as they're part of the ruby bindings.
