OK, patch applied to 3.5 branch. I will try to patch KDE4 also - there might 
be some modifications needed, but I hope not too many.

The "thank you" goes to Erwin Mascher. He provided the quite complex patch, 
which contains one small but important design change: namely "ripping apart" 
Record and Playback volumes, placing those two volumes in two Objects.

I am still not 100% sure, whether there should be 2 "MixDevice" objects (as 
implemented in the patch), or if a MixDevice should contain 2 volume objects. 
In any case, I am sure that it is a real step forward.
