Allan and Matthias want to have it released as part of 3.4; I personally don't 
think this is a good idea, but that's an open issue at the moment that 
doesn't need to be decided immediately.

The idea is that this *is* for KDE 4 though; this is just the first iteration 
of the API, which we naturally expect to refactor in the next year.
