Question/Poll on dB-calculation

Hi everybody,

I ran into an acoustic problem:

There are two formulars for calculating dB<->amplification_value:
First one can use the formular for the absolut soundlevel db = 10*lg( amp ).
The second is for absolut soundpressure db = 20*lg( amp ).

With the first +3dB means an amplification by 2, with the later ampfactor of 2
would be +6dB.

As I am currently at some aRts-widgets with dB-abilities, at artscontrol and
am having some discussions with Benedikt Gollatz at bugs.kde.org
(http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61150), I just want to ask some experts
/ start a user(/developer) poll which value to use.

But I want only one of these formulars for whole aRts...
