What I think Neil means to say is that it's a good idea, but it won't inhibit
the debugging of -your- code. It might be not as easy to look into variables
defined in noatun, though.
Also, if you have a slower machine, your debugging may be faster if you set
the environment variable LD_BIND_NOW=1 .
If you really like KDE apps, I swear by kdbg. While it's lacking a lot of
useful features, it still certainly is quite a convenient and nice app.
I've also noticed that gcc 3.x is incredibly and extremely bad at C++
debugging. I've seen it have trouble set breakpoints in constructors, and
have trouble looking at variables that are instanciations of templates.
