KVolumeControl

Hello,
I know nothing about aRts. However, I wanted kolf to be able to play sounds at 
dynamic speeds, so Neil wrote and I modified KVolumeControl, which is 
attached. However, it doesn't work - sounds are played at normal volume... 
Does anybody know why? Is there an easier way to play sounds at dynamic 
volumes?
