Sound in KMail

artsdsp wavplay /stuff/garbage.wav 

should do it.  I'm pretty sure SuSE 8.0 comes with wavplay (I use 7.3 and it 
did.).  

I'm also CCing in the fine folks on the KMail list.  They should be able to 
help you if you have further questions.
