I did not have the opportunity to try to install it on an N9 so feedback there 
would be helpful.

You are probably missing
deb http://harmattan-dev.nokia.com/ harmattan/sdk free non-free
as package source. This provides libdb packages.
I think this was enabled by default in the image i've installed (Beta 2) but 
probably would not be there on the N9 image.
