No. These settings are used everywhere in digiKam...

For the HEIF, the problem must come from the read only support of this kind of
file type by Exiv2 backend used to manage metadata (the default). To baypass
this problem, you can switch to ExifTool backend, which is a little powerful in
write support but a little bit slowly. Look in metadata setup page to find the
right option to turn on.
