Renaming .config/digikamrc to .config/digikamrc.old resolved the problem for
me.

I am not yet sure which information I lost with this.

It was quite impressive the digikam found the database file and so far it seems
that everything works (though some things are slow, but maybe it is because
digikam needs to regenerate some information?).
