I just tested to start digikam for a new user on the same system.

The result was that it started without any problem, first through the setup
assistant, at the second start-up the splash screen appeared an everything
worked as expected.

To me it seems the problem only occurs with legacy configurations / databases.
I upgraded from Debian 11 which ships digikam 7.1

Unfortunately,
