John Layt has offered to review and revise the pages on KDE and Mac and
has started a new page at http://community.kde.org/Mac but just as a foot
in the door so far.

I used the KDE Techbase instructions at:
http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Build/Mac_OS_X/MacPorts#Installing_the_base_requirements
for getting DBus to run whenever I boot the Macbook and added kdeinit4 to
Mac OS X's SystemSettings->Accounts->My Account->Login Items, so now
the Macbook is ready to run KDE apps as soon as it has started up. John
Layt says the Techbase page I quoted is out of date, so tread carefully, but
the DBus bit worked fine for me.

All the best, Ian W.
