[KDE/Mac] Installation problem

I downloaded the "everything" folder of packages via torrent.  File  
sizes all seem alright.  I performed the "chmod a+x *.pkg/Contents/ 
Resources/postflight" command.  Double-click the kde meta package (or  
ANY of the packages) and I get:

The installer could not locate the data it needed to install the  
software.  Check your install media or internet connection and try  
again or contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

This is KDE 4.1 Beta 1, on Mac OS X 10.5.4, Intel.

Any ideas?
