[kde-linux] Q: how to turn off notifications in 4.2?

How do I turn off the notifications that keep popping up in 4.2?

There are so many truly awful interactions between notifications and the
rest of the desktop that I just want to get rid of the things until the
developers have made them a whole lot less intrusive.
