Please forgive my ignorance!
What applications do you want to use when calling for these special
characters? Are you talking about applications such as (OOO)Write? Or
are you trying to put something into HTML using such a tool as Kate?
Or what?
Another area in which I would be interested is what-all specific special
characters are you interested in using?
Although I have done nothing like this in KDE 4.2+, I have had some
mixed results when going beyond simple ASCII, and putting some
Simplified Chinese characters into documents. For example, I have had
some on-screen display of HTML work rather nicely -- but fail to print
workably on paper. (I got "garbage"!) I have also had mixed results
when using full-form HanYu PinYin (which involves standard "Roman"
letters, but with some diacritical tone-glyphs which have no equivalent
in western European languages).
To some extent, I might have some useful information -- but it is far
more likely that I am looking at extensions of your question! It would
be nice if we could share a solution.
