Hi Duncan
Thanks for the suggestion - short version: renamed the existing config
file (.kde/share/config/kscdrc) and started up KsCD ... same old thing:
no configuration buttons, cannot play the audio CD in my sata drive
(still recognises the track listing and can eject the disc, but can't
play it mind you!!).
So, unless I misunderstood your suggestion that didn't appear to work.
I don't know if any other Debian Squeeze users are experiencing anything
similar. I don't use KDE as my DE (I am using GNOME), but surely that
shouldn't make any difference because AFAICT, apt-get did pull in all
dependencies, etc.
Anyhow, thanks for the idea, but I think it's back to the drawing board.
