[kde-linux] How do I install KDE 4.2.4 while removing KDE 3.5.10 from Slackware Linux?

I have hit serveral snags while trying to install from source. Mainly I've
been having trouble keeping track of all the files I need to be able to
build from source. I think I have all of the necessary files. These being
KDE 4.2.4 Source files
kdesupport from https://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/kdesupport
cmake 2.6.4
Qt 4.5.2 from the Trolltech website
Boost C++ libraries
It keeps telling me I need the Boost C++ libraries even though I have
already built & installed them
Any help would be very much appreciated as I would like to switch over to
KDE 4.2.4
