[kde-linux] automatic updates

When I go to Settings/Software Updates it says to automaticaly install 
nothing, yet I get notices occasionally from kupdate (?) saying that 
updates are being installed, without even giving me any indication as to 
what is being updated.  This is not consistent, though, as sometimes I 
get a window opening saying that some list of updates are available 
(which is what I prefer).  What is up here?
