Which NVIDIA I run a 6800 (not exactly cutting edge but a good card)
2Gigs ram AMD 3200+ NVIDIA prop driver. And I can dual boot between Suse
10.2 and 11.2. 11.2 ( installed on a new hard drive) is about 30%
faster at everything. And booting is 3 times faster. The graphics are
smooth and I can do the cube and other eye candy with out problems. It
is almost like a have a new machine. SOme of it is the new file system
(ext4) but KDE4 is just fine here. Sorry to hear you have problems,

Jim
