Actually, they are.  I use Gentoo.  Gentoo doesn't keep packages around 
when they are not supported upstream and have either a security problem 
or fail to compile.  KDE 3 has been dropped by KDE and Gentoo has done 
the same.  So that is not correct, I am being stopped from using KDE 3, 
at least a maintained version of it.  I get to watch KDE 3 fall apart 
piece by piece.

No, I have no need to switch distros either.
