In KDE-4.3, the folder view plasmoid has a filter option which can do
the trick. But I am not sure about KDE-4.2.2. Can you check settings
of folder view and see if it gives a filer tab? If its not there then
you have to move your unnecessary files from the desktop folder to
show up the content which you want. Deleting from folder view will
delete the files (which is normal).
