[kde-linux] Character encoding problem in KDE

Try somesing like this in your fstab (using the correct codepage):

/dev/hda5 /mnt/dados vfat 
umask=0,check=r,users,exec,codepage=850,iocharset=utf8,shortname=win95,noatime 
0 0

I have similar problems, and this solved them...
