[kde-linux] KDE + Time Zones + Daylight-saving-time

Hi Kevin,

I got it working ok, let me post my solution:

I understand that "somewhere" within KDE, the timezone " São Paulo -
América" is configured to copy /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Sao_Paulo to
/etc/localtime. So I create my configuration file like this:

Rule Brazil 2006 only - Nov 5 00:00 1 D
Rule Brazil 2007 only - Feb 25 00:00 0 S
Zone America/Sao_Paulo -3:00 Brazil BR%sT

so that when I run ZIC on it, it overwrites KDE's original file that has
the wrong daylight saving time information. Quite naturaly, if now I
configure this time-zone in KDE's clock adjust panel, everything works :)

It would be nice though to discover where KDE's configuration is located...

As to setup NTP, I do it with Mandiva's setup program that creates a
ntpd service and configures it in a way very much like I would do manualy.

Thanks for you patiance,
Alain
PS: More information on monday, that's is when time returns to normal.
