[kde-linux] Kpackage Still Not Working

With recent Debian apt versions, kpackage will most usually not work, will 
hang up while "loading" or reloading the package tree. I filed a bug but so 
far have found no explanation. The program is building the tree and hangs 
there. The apt-cache return does not seem to matter and manually running this 
command works just fine.

The only current status change is a large number of packages held back. 
Kpackage, however, does not seem to check this in most of its operations.

Anyone had the problem, found some solution of workaround?
