[kde-linux] How to force num-lock on at KDE startup

This is a silly question, but I can't find the answer.

I've installed a minimal KDE-3.5.5 desktop, so I know I'm missing quite a few 
little utilities along with vast amounts of bloat. The one I want enables me 
to set my num-lock status on logging-in to KDE. To save me wading through 
hundreds of Gentoo kde-base packages, would someone please tell me which 
utility I need?
