[kde-linux] KDM Hang During Login

We are using kdebase3-kdm 3.4.1-3 on the Novell Linux Desktop.  We are
using LDAP for user authentication with PAM.  Sometimes, not all the
time, the user will encounter a hanging condition after the type in
their username and password and hit enter.  What could be causing this?
