[kde-linux] Error: "could not start kstartconfig"

Hi,

I've just finished compiling kde 3.5.2 using
konstruct.

I use a softlink to point to the various kde builds
that I have. However, when I switched the link to the
3.5.2 build and started it I was told that 

 'could not start kstartupconfig'

After clicking OK KDE started and things seemed mostly
OK. However in KDevelop I cannot open projects since
I'm told that the C++ plugin could not be found.

Any ideas as to what is going wrong?

P.S. I don't have admin rights on this machine so I'm
