I have it working despite the error (apparently in the "sound system"). This 
loops when trying to restart, each repetition 1/2 as fast. Cancel button 
works just fine :-). I do not use it anyway.

This is an almost complete installation. Some stuff, kword for example, still 
runs off /usr/bin rather than the local installation. So I cannot allow apt 
to take off 3.3 yet. I'll delete 3.4.3 after seeing 3.5 work a few days.
