please disregard my 1st post, I just hit 'send' accidentally :)
here is my comment:
you will need to find the appropriate driver for that card,
which seems to be of some special brand and hence not included in standard
kernels, not even as a module.
once you got it, compile it as a module for your kernel and issue
'modprobe drvxyz' - if this is successful, sane will find the attached
scanner.
