Hmm.

Could be a bug in KWin, or a problem when it doesn't manage a "real" Xserver.
Can you try a different window manager in the Xnest session?

Alternatively or additionally you could ask on the kwin mailinglist, 
especially if you get it to work with a different window manager, in which 
case it really looks like a bug.
