Hmm, the screen shot showed a download progress window, which usually means 
that KDE is downloading the page to a temporary local file, because it thinks 
the  target application can't handle URLs itself.

Which usually means that the %u parameter is missing in the command.

They don't use KDE's settings or file type associations but their own.

At least it rules out that the browser isn't installed correctly.

You could try restoring the default settings and then change them to what you 
want, i.e. clear the external browser setting and remove the html.desktop 
file from .kde/share/mimelnk/text (the file type association is stored there)
