[kde-linux] Applications not showing up

I am running Debian Testing on a old PPC system. I did an apt-get upgrade last 
week Friday and all the applications dissapeared from the K-Start button. I 
can launch apps by entering the appropriate command under run under kStart.

When I add a user no applications show up there either.

Finally if I launch kmenu (only launches from the run menu) and add an 
application save it. Nothing show up again.

Anyone have any ideas?
