I've used KDE's Kiosk Framework twice, in Davis, California.
One was to replace a very crufty and unsafe-looking Windows/Netscape-4-based
public access terminal at a newspaper/magazine store downtown,
and the other was to provide a PC for people to use at a coffee shop that
was providing wireless Internet access. (Some people saw the "Internet"
sign and didn't realize they had to have a laptop and wireless. :^) )
The former is still up and running (and in major need of update, no doubt),
the latter sadly disappeared when the coffee shop changed ownership.

Both simply provided Konqueror and had a locked-down IceWM interface.
This was before the GUI KDE Kiosk Tool existed, BTW. :)
