Yes I did this in the kiosk profile folder also tried [$i] in first line for
the whole file, a section didn't exists, but nothing of it worked.

Yes seems you found it!!! I copyed my kio_lanrc from the kiosk profile
to /opt/kde/share/config and it works now.
Well, I am using Slackware-current with KDE3.3.1.
