Which version of KDE are you using?
You can use "kiosktool-kdedirs --check" to see which profiles are currently
active.
You probably need to add
export KDEDIRS=$(kiosktool-kdedirs)
to startkde or xinitrc.
Adding it to xinitrc only works if startkde doesn't unset KDEDIRS.
